The first deliveries of the six-seat Tesla Model Y L have officially started in Australia, just a month after the extended version was added to Tesla’s local configurator. This quick shift from order to delivery highlights strong early demand for what is now the brand’s most practical and longest-range electric vehicle.
Initial deliveries are already happening nationwide, including in Queensland, where one of the first owners, Thanh L, shared photos of a white Model Y L at handover. The post quickly gained attention within EV communities after being reshared by Roland L.
Key highlights of Tesla model Y L
- First customer deliveries of the Tesla Model Y L have begun in Australia
- Offers up to 681km WLTP range, making it the longest-range Tesla

“I’m so proud to be the first in Queensland taking delivery of the 2026 Tesla Model Y L,” the owner said.
Beyond the quick rollout, Tesla is positioning this variant as more than just a larger SUV. Tesla model Y L offers almost 14 per cent more driving range than any other Model Y, making it not only the longest range version of the model, but the longest range Tesla currently available.
The Model Y L builds on the standard Model Y platform but introduces a longer body and extended wheelbase to accommodate a third row.
Compared with the regular version, the new model is noticeably larger:
- 177mm longer overall
The third row introduces two additional seats with practical usability, including cup holders and fold flat capability for added cargo flexibility.
Both rear rows can be folded electronically, unlocking more than 2,530 litres of cargo capacity, making it one of the most versatile mid size electric SUVs currently available.
